TOUR PROGRAM:

Chios Island Tour

Morning at 08:00, we meet at the TURYOL check-in office at the Çeşme customs port for our Chios Island tour. After passport control, our pleasant journey through the blue waters of the Aegean begins at 09:20. Upon arrival at Chios Island port, we complete the entry procedures, and at 11:30, we start our tour from the Chios Island DENIZ TOURS office, exploring the southern villages of the island known as MASTIHAHORIA (mastic villages), which are the only places in the world that produce mastic.

Mesta:
Our first stop is MESTA, one of the island's most important medieval villages. Built by the Genoese in the 13th-14th centuries in the shape of a fortress to protect against pirate attacks, Mesta village is a UNESCO World Heritage site that has preserved its structure remarkably well. In this village filled with maze-like dead-end streets designed to confuse pirates, we visit the island's largest church, the Church of Taxiarchis (Archangels). In the village square in front of this unique church, visitors can enjoy cold coffee or taste the local Chios beer.

Pyrgi:
Next, we visit Pyrgi village, famous for the unique geometric shapes on the exterior of its houses. These black and white wall decorations, made using the ksista technique, resemble mosaics from a distance and will make you feel like you're in a fairy tale. After seeing the tower (PIRGOS) that gives the village its name and the 12th-century Byzantine church of Agion Apostolon in the square, we head towards the house believed to have been inhabited by Christopher Columbus. It is believed that Columbus visited Chios Island before setting out to discover America, studying maps and consulting with local captains. After introducing our guests to the house believed to be Columbus's residence, we take a shopping break at local stores where you can find the freshest mastic and all kinds of mastic products. After leaving this uniquely beautiful village, we head towards the famous Karfas beach for a lunch and swimming break.

Karfas Beach:
Our next stop is Karfas, the island's most touristy area, located 7 km south of the center, with its golden sands. The tavernas in the Karfas area offer a wide range of dishes, from fresh seafood to traditional Greek cuisine. Guests who wish can enjoy the sea and sun on this beautiful beach. There are cabins and showers at Karfas beach where you can change and take a shower.

Windmills:
Our last stop is the four windmills (TABAKIKA), one of the island's most important symbols, located 1.5 km from Chios port. The historical windmills were used to draw water to the tanneries (tabakika) that gave the area its name in the early 20th century. In recent years, they have been restored with the contributions of the municipality and have become a must-see photo spot for all tourists visiting the island. After a photo break here, we head towards the port. We bid you farewell from the Chios port with beautiful memories of the tour.
